If you’re considering cosmetic dentistry to improve the appearance of your smile, consider contacting Dr. Betty Jo Schope to schedule a cosmetic consultation to determine a best plan to achieve your goals. Watch this video to learn a bit more about what’s involved with the consultation:
“I typically do a comprehensive exam on a patient prior to (a cosmetic procedure) because there are so many things that I need to know about what I’m dealing with to be able get the best result. Are they healthy? Do they have some functional issues that maybe need to get corrected? Is there any joint problems?
You know, kind of getting that baseline of all of that taken care of. You’ll pay your comprehensive exam fee whether insurance covers that or not, there will be that fee. But as far as a cosmetic treatment solution, we’ll put that together and many times I’ll have patients back – I would say the majority of times I have patients back for no charge consult to just go over my findings.
Not only my findings for their health issues, but also if we’re going to do any type of cosmetic care, what does that look like and what’s that going to cost and how do we sit down and figure out how to deal with the cost or deal with the time line of it. There is sequencing that needs to happen, there’s getting appointments, figuring out what’s the time line, when we need to do things, when do I need to be off work – those kind of things.
And we try to minimize that as much as possible, but it’s better going into it being prepared before you decide to make that decision for yourself to go forward with that because it’s not always just an investment in money – it’s time and things like that as well.”
More about the Cosmetic Dentistry Consultation
Don’t underestimate the need of the cosmetic dentistry consultation. It’s critical for you to understand all of your options. A good cosmetic dentist will go through all the procedure details and make a recommendation that’s appropriate for your personal condition and situation – NOT what is necessarily easiest or most profitable for the dentist. That’s very important to understand. If you feel you’re being pushed into a procedure that you’re not comfortable with, don’t be afraid to say “no.”
When you sit down with Dr. Schope, she goes over MUCH more than your cosmetic dentistry goals during your consultation. She’ll want to make sure you have solid functional dental health first. As you’ll learn in the video, sometimes what seems like a ‘cosmetic’ issue, could really be a ‘functional’ dental health issue. In such cases, all the cosmetic dentistry in the world won’t make your teeth look better until you properly deal with the functional issue first. That’s what’s so great about talking with Dr. Schope … she can guide you through the entire process and make sure you’re confident and satisfied with your ‘overall’ dental health plan … cosmetic AND functional.
In the end, you’ll be glad you took the time to talk to Dr. Schope.
